random question of a musical nature

So, over the years I've come to the realization that people hate Nickelback. I'm not talking, like, "Meh, change the station, I don't like their music." No. I'm talking utter loathing of the sort normally reserved for Disney kids and Justin Bieber.

Question: Why is that? Okay, so some of their songs sound the same. One or two are sort of anvilicious. But...I don't know, I think their music is generally pretty solid. They're a ton of fun to blast in the car and sing along to.

So...thoughts? Why do you think people hate Nickelback, and if you're one of the aforementioned people, why do you hate them? *curious*

I've heard some people talk shit about them too (Bon Jovi is another such case). Personally, I don't mind them, even if I don't know many of their songs... however, whenever I hear one that I like on the radio (hooray for Radio1, which claims it's "for adults", which means they play a lot of the golden oldies and is nigh perfect for me ^^), I am reminded of how many would beg for the station to get changed because they really can't stand it :/

Maybe it's the singing voice? Or people consider the sound to be too... well, often sounding the same or something. I honestly lack any other theories... ^^;

I'm not entirely sure either--the only real criticism I've heard of them is that they're too "generic." I don't mind them, though.

Then again the last Nickelback song I remember hearing was 'This is How You Remind Me' when it came out and I kind of loved that, so. \o_o/

It's because they're male and they sing about having feelings. ... I wish I were kidding, and I'm kind of oversimplifying, but as far as I know, that is the reason. :/

I have no idea. I quite like them. Not "I would go out of my way to buy their album" like them, but "if it came on the radio I wouldn't switch the channel."
