First, a question. And I probably should have brought this up before, but it's only really sinking in now, what with the ink attacks and all.

The Hachibi is the Eight-Tailed Ox, so...why all the octopus tails?

Anyone?

That aside, this chapter was pretty solid. Remember last week when I said this? This could be interesting...unless all the undead jinchuriki also retained the power to transform completely, in which case this is going to be a curb-stomp battle of the highest degree. Yeeeah. Guess what just happened. Our heroes are doomed, aren't they? xD;;

So, um...Flower Fruit Mountain. a) How do those things go together, b) how do they relate to an ox or an octopus, and c) how did that help?? And then there's that big white horned...thing...that appears out of nowhere, injures the Eight-Tails and then vanishes with zero explanation. Did I miss something or is Kishimoto just trolling us again?

Not sure how Not-Madara was going to win by checking Naruto's temperature, but who cares, because GUY AND KAKASHI ARE BACK. *parties* It's about time! Ooh, I can't wait to see these two teamed up...

Thoughts? Theories? Questions that haven't been answered for the past hundred chapters (and probably won't be for another hundred)? I've forgotten all of mine. xD

I don't see exactly why they'd choose octopus arms for an ox aside from the fact that an octopus has eight arms xD And maybe they thought that a multi-tailed ox would bear too much resemblance to a certain Pokemon ;)

Ah, we mustn't lose faith in our heroes :D They'll pull through, somehow - though as soon as my initial enthusiasm about the arrival of Kakashi and Gai was starting to calm down, I began to worry for their safety. Like, will they get out of this alive? Remember, Kakashi already died before - or nearly, something like that. And since this is a war, it is almost guaranteed that more casualties are yet to come, though I'll admit I have lost track of which side is "winning" in that regard ^^;

Lol no idea about the Flower Fruit Mountain thing xD When I read these things, I'm just glad for such a mental breather amidst my assignments, so I'm not thinking too hard about it. Mostly, I'm just all like: "Wow, what the hell just happened? Ah well, something that looked cool, that's all that matters to me :3"
(LOLs at the phrasing "is Kishimoto just trolling us again"... don't ask =DDD)

No theories as such, but I do have several questions at this point: Where the hell is Sasuke? And where is Itachi? How much longer till we'll see either one of them again? WHY THE HELL DID KISHIMOTO JUST KILL OFF THE AKATSUKI SO EASILY????? (I'm really missing them - the original, I mean. The Akatsuki stopped being the "real" Akatsuki for me as soon as the majority of the original equipe got killed off T____T) It doesn't help that now that I'm back into Naruto again, I'm right back where I left off, meaning that I'm still a huge fangirl of the Akatsuki (come to think of it, the only change I've noticed in the revival of this obsession is a stronger interest in KakuHida)...
And last but not least: who exactly is this masked man whom we thought was Madara all this time? I want an answer, dammit! *not yelling at you, but at Kishi*

That's all I've got - back to writing this stupid report on a counseling session :(

As far as I can tell, the octopus-like creature with an ox's head is a reference to an ushi-oni, a creature from Japanese mythology. Since that's where they're getting all the bijuu, it would be my guess. Maybe...Flower Fruit Mountain (haven't read the chapter yet) is similar?

I'm worried that Gai is going to go Eight Gates and die. :( If he does, Kakashi had better get an *on-panel* rampage in response. I think Gai could actually be dangerous to Tobi if he opens enough Gates--he might be able to attack so quickly that Tobi doesn't have time to go insubstantial.

Maybe the Flower Fruit Mountain relates to Mount Fuji? I think Fuji is the name of some kind of flower, but I don't know where fruit comes in.
